This department in association with Green Triangle Society and Goa Chamber of Commerce and Industry is organizing a half-day Continuing Medical Program (CME) on Occupational Health, on Monday 28th January 2008 from 10 to 13.30 hrs. on the topic “Necessities for a New OSH Paradigm ? at Convention Hall, Goa Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Panaji Goa

The lecture will be delivered by Dr. Kaj Elgstrand, Ex Director of NIVA, Finland, National Institute for Working Life, Sweden and senior ICOH Board Member who is visiting India to attend the 58th National Conference on Occupational Health & International Update at Mumbai and is delivering an oration “Is there a need for a new OSH paradigm?" during the conference, Dr. S R Pingle,Vice President, Medical & Occupational Health Services, Reliance Industries Ltd will speak on the 'Roadblocks and Roadmap for Basic Occupational Health Services in India' and Dr. Manish Gaunekar, Medical Inspector of Factories, Inspectorate of Factories & Boilers, Goa will highlights the Statutory Requirements in Occupational Health for Hazardous Industries under Factories Act 1948 and rules framed there under

About Dr. Kaj Elgstrand:


Kaj Elgstrand was a researcher in work physiology and ergonomics in Stockholm from 1964-1968, then worked as an associate expert in ergonomics at the University of Cauca, Colombia, 1968-1970. He was the Director of Swedish national training programs for specialists of occupational health services and labour inspection, 1971-1988, and Director of the Nordic Institute for Advanced Training in Occupational Health in Helsinki, Finland, 1988-1992. In 1993-2006 he worked at the Swedish National Institute for Working Life as Director of International Training programs for Occupational Safety and Health specialists, and on technical cooperation projects in Poland, Central America and Southern Africa. Since
2007 he is active in international collaboration programs at the Division of Industrial Ecology at the Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm. He is a member of the Board of International Commission on Occupational Health since last three terms.
